The Method

Our method was built through practical experience working with many students, and with one clear goal: to teach a child how to learn Gemara independently. Not merely to listen to a lesson or understand a teacher’s explanation, but to open a Gemara, read, understand, and progress on their own. From our experience, the main difficulty students face is not lack of talent, but lack of connection to the words and structure of the Gemara. When a student does not understand each word precisely, they struggle to understand complete sentences and remain dependent on others. Therefore, we developed a structured, clear, and gradual method based on word-by-word learning, precise reading, proper review, and building genuine self-confidence in learning.

The first stage of the method is learning common Aramaic words and understanding their exact meanings. The student learns to read correctly, become accustomed to accurate pronunciation, and recognize words that repeat throughout the Gemara. After that comes the stage of memorization and recall, in which the student learns to remember independently through smart review techniques and visual memory, without constant dependence on a teacher. Later, the student begins connecting the words into actual Gemara sentences — not in a vague or approximate way, but through precise reading and clear explanation of every word and sentence. In this way, a true understanding of the sugya, questions, answers, and the structure of the Gemara is gradually developed.

The method places great emphasis on precision. A student who learns in a vague manner, guesses words, or adds explanations that are not written in the text builds a weak foundation for themselves. In contrast, when correct understanding is established from the very beginning, learning becomes clear, organized, and stable. In addition, we incorporate gradual review systems that help transfer the material into long-term memory, together with personal guidance and support tailored to each student according to their pace of progress.

In recent years, we have also been developing innovative learning tools, including synchronized audio and text, so that the student hears the reading, sees the words, and the spoken word is highlighted in real time. This combination greatly strengthens the connection between hearing, reading, and understanding, and helps make learning clearer, more engaging, and more accessible.

From our experience, we repeatedly see that students who struggled, became discouraged, or believed they would never succeed in learning independently eventually began to read, understand, and love Gemara. For us, true success is not only knowing the material, but reaching the point where a child feels confident enough to open a Gemara and learn independently.
